Cavendish Lodge is a happy, lively and thriving Lodge that enjoys great fellowship. It has over fifty members from all walks of life who enjoy their Freemasonry to the full.
There are no records extant as to what motivated the Founders to form the Lodge. However, it is believed to have roots in a desire of members of The Sheepbridge Coal and Iron Company Limited to have a Lodge meeting at the Whittington and Sheepbridge Institute, which was the social meeting place of those members. The Lodge moved to Chesterfield Masonic Hall in 1909.
Each Lodge Meeting is followed by a Festive Board, when the members and visitors dine in a relaxed and informal environment. Highlights of the Lodge year include a Christmas Social, to which wives and non-Masonic guests are invited, and our very popular ‘Olde English Night’ held every January.
We are always happy to welcome visiting Brethren to our meetings and respond to enquiries from those considering joining Freemasonry and becoming a member of our Lodge.
