The Kindred Lodges Association (KLA) was formed in 1952 to link together those Masonic Lodges formed by, or including, Masons who are, or were, involved in Youth Work.

Membership of the KLA is available to existing Freemasons either through being a member of a subscribing Lodge, or as an individual Associate Member. Whether as a Member or an Associate Member, you have the same rights and privileges due to all Freemasons with the ability to attend any Festival Meeting of the Association.

The prime activity, other than encouraging inter Lodge visiting, is to hold two Festival meetings each year. The dress for these meetings is the current uniform of their youth organisation for those entitled to wear it. An occasional newsletter is distributed to all individual associate members as well as the member Lodges.

There are two member Lodges of the KLA in Derbyshire, Pioneer Lodge No. 9065 (Scouting) and Sure & Stedfast Lodge No. 9130 (The Boys’ Brigade).  The Secretary of both Lodges is W Bro. Trevor Brearley.

In 2014 the Association rescued a very old military Lodge, the Lodge of Unity Peace & Concord No. 316, and prevented it from closing by converting it into the Association’s Installed Masters’ Lodge.  Subscribing Membership is very close to 100 and is open to all Installed Masters who are Members or Associate Members of the Kindred Lodges Association.  The Lodge meets in London on the fourth Saturday in June, for its Installation meeting, and in a Province on the second Saturday in November.  The current Master is W Bro. Tony Harvey, a PM of Pioneer Lodge.

The next Festival Meeting will be held at Knole Road Masonic Centre in Bournemouth, Dorset on Sat 16th April 2016, hosted by Brownsea Island Lodge No.9689. It is open to all Freemasons.

The next meeting of Unity Peace & Concord is at Freemasons’ Hall, London, on Saturday, 25th June 2016.
